ODM Broad Based Youth Declare Support for Party Unity, Issue Rallying Call Ahead of 2027
By Steve El Sabai
A coalition of Orange Democratic Movement ODM Broad Based Youth leaders has reaffirmed its commitment to party unity, grassroots mobilisation, and issue based politics as the country steadily edges towards the 2027 General Election.
Addressing the media during a press briefing attended by youth representatives drawn from various regions, the group said young people remain the backbone of ODM’s political machinery and must be actively involved in shaping the party’s future direction.
Speaking on behalf of the movement, ODM Broad Based Youth spokesperson Mr Kasmuel MCoure said the youth wing is focused on strengthening grassroots structures, mobilising young voters, and safeguarding the party’s core values of social justice, inclusivity, and democratic governance.
Mr MCoure noted that ODM’s resilience over the years has been anchored on unity and a strong connection with ordinary Kenyans, particularly the youth who form the largest voting bloc in the country.
He cautioned against internal divisions within the party, urging members to embrace dialogue, tolerance, and collective responsibility as opposed to personal interests that could weaken the party’s standing.
“The youth are not just foot soldiers during elections. We are stakeholders with ideas, energy, and a vision for the future of this country,” Mr MCoure said, adding that the Broad Based Youth movement would intensify grassroots engagement, civic education, and voter registration drives nationwide.
The youth leaders also raised concern over unemployment, the rising cost of living, and limited economic opportunities, challenges they said continue to disproportionately affect young Kenyans. They called on ODM leadership to place youth centered policies at the core of its political agenda.
Mr MCoure reaffirmed the group’s loyalty to the party, stating that the youth wing is committed to defending ODM’s legacy while positioning it as a united and formidable political force ahead of future electoral contests.
The briefing concluded with a call for peaceful political engagement and sustained collaboration with civil society, community leaders, and other stakeholders to amplify youth voices and promote accountable leadership across the country.
