By Elijah Odanga
Leaders from government, international organisations and the private sector on Friday convened in Nairobi for the Global Trustee Rotary International Forum, where Vision 100, a long term initiative aimed at community empowerment and global unity, was officially unveiled.
The forum was attended by the Prime Cabinet Secretary and Cabinet Secretary for Foreign and Diaspora Affairs, Musalia Mudavadi, alongside senior government officials, legislators and development partners. The event was convened by the International Memon Organization under the theme Inspiring Progress and Preserving Tradition.
Speaking at the forum, Shahid Yakub, Vice President of the International Memon Organization East Africa Chapter, said Vision 100 seeks to promote purposeful development while strengthening unity across generations. He noted that discussions at the forum centred on critical development pillars including healthcare, housing, education, culture, community empowerment and sustainable economic growth.
Yakub commended the initiative for placing healthcare at the centre of development, describing it as a priority that aligns closely with the government’s national health agenda. He said the focus on preventive care, early screening for non communicable diseases, mental well being and shielding families from catastrophic health costs reflects key policy directions being pursued by the government.
He further reaffirmed that Vision 100 is aligned with Kenya’s commitment to Universal Health Coverage and the strengthening of primary healthcare systems. According to Yakub, partnerships between government and forward looking institutions remain essential in translating policy frameworks into tangible community impact.
Highlighting the priorities of the current administration, Yakub pointed to the Bottom Up Economic Transformation Agenda, particularly health sector reforms under the Social Health Authority, which aim to expand access to affordable and equitable healthcare services for all Kenyans.
He congratulated the International Memon Organization East Africa Chapter on reaching the milestone and reiterated the Ministry’s commitment to continued collaboration with institutions focused on inclusive and sustainable development.
Others in attendance include Kisumu East MP Shakeel Shabir and Rahim Dawood, North Imenti Member of Parliament, alongside other dignitaries and industry leaders.
