Busia County . As schools across Kenya prepare to close for the term, Life Transformation Foundation continues to make a visible and lasting impact through its ongoing sports-for-education and inclusion programs in public schools. Since 2023, the Foundation has consistently worked with learners, teachers, and communities to ensure that education goes beyond the classroom embracing sport, equity, and holistic child development.
In the weeks leading to school closure, Life Transformation Foundation has been actively implementing inclusive football and multi-sport sessions in partner schools, bringing together boys and girls, learners with disabilities, and those from vulnerable backgrounds. These activities form part of a structured and sustained program the Foundation has implemented continuously since its incorporation in March 2023.
Speaking during one of the school engagements, the President of Life Transformation Foundation, Madam Maximilla Wafula, delivered a powerful message on inclusion and empowerment. “Disability is not inability. Every child has talent, potential, and a right to participate,” she stated. She encouraged children with disabilities to confidently join sporting activities such as basketball, darts, volleyball, and football, emphasizing that sport builds confidence, resilience, health, and a strong sense of belonging.
Her message was echoed and strongly supported by the Director, Mr. David Awour, who emphasized that inclusive sport is a core pillar of the Foundation’s work. Mr. Awour noted that Life Transformation Foundation has deliberately championed disability inclusion in school sports since 2023, ensuring that no child is excluded based on physical or learning differences. “When we open sports spaces to every child, we unlock confidence, discipline, teamwork, and academic motivation. Inclusion is not optional it is essential,” he said.
Football and other sports activities are intentionally aligned with Kenya’s Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC), reinforcing teamwork, communication, leadership, discipline, and problem-solving skills. Teachers and coaches work closely to ensure that lessons learned on the field translate into improved classroom participation, attendance, and learner confidence.
Beyond sports, the Foundation integrates mentorship, life-skills education, and child safeguarding into every school engagement. Parents, teachers, and community leaders are actively involved, strengthening ownership and long-term sustainability of the initiatives.
As schools close for the term, Life Transformation Foundation reaffirms its commitment to continuing these programs into the next academic calendar, expanding inclusive sports and education initiatives so that every child regardless of ability can learn, play, and thrive.
