Building in Kenya Just Got Easier as Jumba Launches Innovative Construction App
Reporting by James Mutua
Building in Kenya has become easier, faster, and more transparent following the launch of the Jumba App, a digital platform designed to simplify construction sourcing by connecting builders directly with verified suppliers.
Unveiled today by Jumba, Africa’s largest digital marketplace for construction materials, the app aims to address long-standing challenges in the sector, including inconsistent pricing, unreliable suppliers, and delayed deliveries.
Speaking during the launch event at a Nairobi, hotel on Tuesday, Jumba CEO and Co-Founder Kagure Wamunyu said the platform was built to make the construction process simpler and more efficient for everyone, from developers and contractors to individual homeowners.
“Our mission is simple: to make building easy,” said Wamunyu. “Whether you’re managing multiple projects, building your first home, or constructing from abroad, Jumba gives you confidence that what you order is what you get, on time and at the right price.”
Transforming Construction Sourcing
The Jumba App offers a one-stop solution for sourcing materials ranging from cement and steel to tiles and paint. Users can compare prices in real time, order from verified suppliers, and track deliveries directly through the platform.
Key features include:
Transparent Pricing: Users can view and compare costs across suppliers, eliminating price inconsistencies.
One Stop Shop: Access to a wide range of structural and finishing materials from a single platform.
Reliable Delivery: On-time deliveries help keep projects within budget and on schedule.
Convenient Ordering: Builders can order materials from anywhere, on site, at home, or even overseas.
The launch event brought together government officials, developers, contractors, and major industry players including Crown Paints, Tuff Steel, Tononoka, Jumbo Steel, Comply Industries, Abyssinia, Mzito, National Cement, Dewalt, Blue Nile, and Bamburi Cement.
Currently, the app is available within the Nairobi Metropolitan Area, with expansion plans across all 47 counties in Kenya.
Driving Efficiency Through Technology
According to Wamunyu, the app represents a critical milestone in Jumba’s mission to modernize construction sourcing in Africa. As smartphone usage and internet access continue to rise, the app provides a convenient digital solution that meets the needs of Kenya’s growing construction industry.
The platform integrates logistics and delivery tracking, offering efficiency and transparency while reducing costly delays. It also enables users to make informed purchasing decisions through access to real-time data and supplier verification.
“The Jumba App is more than a digital tool, it’s part of a movement to revolutionize how Africa builds,” Wamunyu added. “We are creating a trusted ecosystem that saves time, cuts costs, and drives progress.”
