Diaspora Technical Working Group Explores Investment Opportunities at Konza Technopolis

The Diaspora Technical Working Group (DTWG) has embarked on a strategic mission to strengthen diaspora engagement in Kenya’s digital and economic transformation, beginning with a high-profile visit to Konza Technopolis, the country’s flagship smart city project.

The delegation, comprising diaspora leaders and experts from across the globe, toured key facilities within the Konza site and engaged in extensive discussions with officials from the Konza Technopolis Development Authority (KoTDA). The dialogue focused on unlocking avenues for diaspora-driven innovation, investment, and knowledge transfer in areas such as ICT infrastructure, smart urban planning, digital education, and technology entrepreneurship.

“This visit marks a major step in ensuring that Kenyans abroad are not only involved in policy but are also partners in implementation,” said a DTWG representative, emphasizing the importance of diaspora inclusion in the country’s long-term development agenda.

The DTWG hailed the visit as a milestone in aligning diaspora interests with Kenya Vision 2030 goals, particularly around fostering a knowledge-based economy. The group expressed optimism about future partnerships that will allow Kenyans in the diaspora to contribute meaningfully to the building of a futuristic, tech-enabled Kenya.

KoTDA welcomed the engagement and reiterated its commitment to supporting initiatives that tap into the expertise and capital of Kenyans abroad.

The DTWG is currently in the country for a series of engagements with various stakeholders and political leaders. Last week, they held meetings with ODM Party Leader Raila Odinga and Wiper Democratic Movement Party Leader Hon. Kalonzo Musyoka. The DTWG is also expected to meet with the President next week.
